NorthStar Memorial Group (www.nsmg.com) is seeking a Cemetery Caretaker Superintendent for our Skylawn (www.skylawnmemorialpark.com) location in San Mateo, California.

 

The Cemetery Caretaker Superintendent is responsible for the overall physical appearance and condition of all property to which he/she is assigned. The ideal candidate will understand and make decisions with the end goal in mind: that we are all here to work together to create a seamless ceremony to celebrate a life lived. The ideal candidate will also be bilingual, have strong experience with unions, and an in-depth knowledge of irrigation. This position reports directly to the General Manager.

 

Things you need to know/be able to do in order to succeed:

  1. Able to fill any role required in the grounds keeping/facilities maintenance function.
  2. Ensure that all interment verification procedures (IVP) are taught, learned, inspected and adhered to.
  3. Verifies that the locations of all interments, entombments or inurnments are accurate.
  4. Works with the General Manager regarding disciplinary action and terminations for grounds staff. 
  5. In consultation with General Manager, Office Manager, Funeral staff, Sales Manager and others, schedules and delegates work assignments to meet client family wishes.
  6. Ensure that all members of the caretaker team observe Federal (OSHA), state and local safety requirements for themselves and visitors to the cemetery.
  7. Maintains a safe working environment by training the staff in proper techniques and use of safety equipment.
  8. Strong experience with unions.
  9. In-depth knowledge of irrigation.
  10. Pesticide License (strongly preferred).

 

Basic Traits and Skills needed to be effective:

  1. Bilingual (strongly preferred).
  2. Strong leadership skills. 
  3. Ability to communicate effectively.

The Sales Manager’s responsibilities will include the following:

·      The Sales Manager will coach and mentor the Sales Counselors to manage leads and train the team on customer service and satisfaction, prospecting, product knowledge, sales presentations, closing skills, product/service pricing, terms, paperwork, and interpreting sales guidelines

·      Help prepare yearly sales quotas and ensure that quotas are achieved

·      Provide Sales Counselors with proper training regarding sales techniques, legal requirements, and company products, policies, and procedures

·      Work in the Field with the Sales Team


Requirements:

·      Minimum of 5-7 years of work experience as a Sales Manager

·      Basic computer and technology skills required

·      Proven Sales Team leadership in a quota-driven environment

·      Outstanding verbal and written communication skills

·      Service industry experience preferred

We are seeking a cemetery Sales Manager with direct experience building, managing and motivating sales teams, as well as experience in strategic marketing, lead generation, and appointment setting systems.  Our cemetery, Forest Hills Memory Gardens,  is a privately-owned, 75 acre cemetery (approximately 40 acres developed) with three mausoleums and both bronze and upright monument sections.  We average 220 interments  per year and have the largest market share percentage among all other cemeteries in our area.  We have not actively marketed the cemetery properties for several years, so we believe the sales opportunities would have great potential for rapid development.  Due to the size of our company, this person would be both a manager and a seller in the field, at least initially.
 
In addition to Forest Hills Memory Gardens, our family also owns two funeral home locations, a crematory and pet cremation and burial business.  Our community is located in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, with diverse opportunities for recreation, the arts, shopping and fine dining.  For more information about Abingdon, go to

Hiring: experienced cemetery manager - positive, forward thinking, and ready for an adventure in the startup and operation of a new conservation cemetery near Tampa, Florida.  Heartwood Preserve Conservation Cemetery is the first natural cemetery in south Florida, the only such cemetery in Florida licensed to sell pre-need (license pending). 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in business startup, day–day management
  • Implement sales and marketing program, grave marking / location system, recordkeeping of contracts and burials
  • Develop positive relationships with funeral professionals & community
  • Manage all burials
  • Work with Director to harmonize all programs – both burial and non-burial

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years’ cemetery management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher

  • Attention to details, adherence to rules, regulations and state funeral law
  • Ability to perform certain duties outdoors year-round in a natural setting
  • Have good driving record, be insurable, pass background checks, have strong references

We are currently seeking a qualified individual to continue the tradition of excellence at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Knowledge of all aspects of Cemetery operations & sales acumen is essential.

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of this location. Critical to the success of this operation are flawless execution standards combined with a thorough understanding of our unique demographics and clientele. The successful candidate will be expected to direct and lead all personnel and ensure that the facility and equipment are maintained to a high degree of readiness.
