Job Description:

A funeral director reports to the Chapel Location Manager in their market and provides professional service to client families before, during and after the loss of a loved one. The role and duty of a funeral director is to comfort the living and care for the deceased. The duties of the funeral director entail all phases of the funeral industry from the removal of the deceased from the place of death, preparation of the body, and arrangement conference, to serving the family on the service and final disposition; also to continue the relationship built even after the services are complete.  Funeral Directors should be a source of support, guidance and direction for families uncertain about the vast range of service, celebration and memorialization choices available from the location. A funeral director should always understand that a client family may know what they do not want, but may also be unsure of what they do want.  The funeral director should have a working knowledge to be able to offer service and merchandise choices that enhance the overall service, and company performance.  The funeral director is directly responsible for the funeral home operating in a profitable and competitive manner.

 

The Funeral Director will be responsible for the following:

Job Requirements:

  • Must be professional, organized and serve our families in a caring manner
  • Assist with funeral services by overseeing the tasks and responsibilities in order to facilitate a successful ceremony
  • Maintain a positive and customer service oriented work environment
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and state and federal regulations
  • Knowledge and practical experience professional, municipal, state and federal licensing regulations and rules applicable to the funeral service industry
  • Promote and maintain safe and healthy work environment
  • Must have a current Funeral Directors license for the State of California
  • Must possess a valid CA driver’s license
  • Knowledge of computers and software, or willingness to learn
