Evergreen-Washelli Memorial Park
Seattle, Washington
Evergreen-Washelli holds an annual memorial service to honor those who have donated their bodies to medical science in the past year. The memorial service is held in Evergreen-Washelli's chapel so that relatives and medical students may honor the generosity of the donors. As part of the memorial, a graveside service is held where the cremated remains are placed in a community burial site, and individual names may be placed on community memorial stones.
The dedication plate reads:
University of Washington
School of Medicine
In dedication to those
Who Have Donated Their Remains
For the Advancement
of
Medical Science and Education

The KIP judges had the following to say about this entry:
- Wonderful idea, and the details Evergreen-Washelli added to the program are excellent. Rather than just having a service, they include memorial stones with optional names and invite medical students to the service. Low-cost, yet very meaningful event.
- A simple, yet very meaningful ceremony to people who have clearly contributed in an important way to the well being of all. I think this should be a nationwide practice.
- This is a great idea to recognize an important contribution -a nice public service by the company.
- Great way to honor those individuals and remind the community of their gift.
- Like this idea! Very honorable thing to do.
- Nice and original.
