Event Under $1,000
Miller-Jones Mortuary & Menifee Valley Memorial Park
Hemet and Sun City, California
Miller-Jones Mortuary & Menifee Valley Memorial Park commissioned a monument to honor 9/11 victims and held a tribute and dedication ceremony and luncheon on September 11. The granite memorial was designed to incorporate all of the events of 9/11 and is placed at the front of the cemetery.
During the ceremony, local ROTC students presented the flags, the National Anthem was sung, and Hamilton Jones shared how this tragedy impacted his family and the reasoning behind this special monument. Lee Greenwood's "Proud to Be An American" was sung as the monument was unveiled. Jones then gave out special plaques to all emergency personnel, the flags were retired, and a free luncheon was served to all in attendance.
