Prairie Home Cemetery's newest garden mausoleum has relaxed regulations and sells custom artwork to be incorporated into various memorials. These new rules have been extended to all existing mausoleum gardens at Prairie Home and have met with high praise from customers. Some family members have even added inscription work to already existing monuments of loved ones. Artwork is inspired by photos, organizations the deceased once belonged to, hobbies, interests and phrases that bring beloved memories of the deceased to mind.
The KIP judges had the following to say about this entry:
- Very unusual and very moving. I really liked the variety, yet nothing seemed tacky, just indicative of the personalities. A lasting, unique memento.
- This is nicely done and makes the memorials themselves more personal for all visitors. It shares more about the deceased with all future visitors to the park.
- Interesting. I wasn't aware of the more restrictive regulations. The examples given were very tasteful while giving a good sense of who the people were and what was important to them.
- Lifting restrictions allows for more opportunities to better serve families.
- Great idea - very personalized.
